soliloquy; ephemeral landings

"May I?" He held out his hand. Somehow it seemed funny that we were both in the dimly-lit room, with an equally crappy view of the browning, old cupboard which looked like it'd fall apart anytime soon and the soft buzz curiously coming from the ceiling fan above us. It wasn't like the movies where you had your best dress on, both white heels and black shoes on the soft, green grass. Or strings of lights around you, with the moon shining brightly above your head. Definitely no high quality romantic music playing in the background, either. Never had it occurred to me that we'd be slow dancing, properly slow dancing for the first time, in such a situation. I looked into his eyes, and smiled at the honesty and shine I saw in them. I placed my hand in his and felt the warmth of his embrace as Etta James played on the phone, in the slow, warm rhythm of the evening. "Yes, you may."
He twirled me around once, before we found ourselves matching the pattern of where our feet moved. "You know, I'm not so good at slow dancing." I whispered, crossing my fingers that I wouldn't ruin the dance by stepping on his feet. He wrapped his right arm around my waist and kissed my forehead gently. "It's alright, just go along with the music." We danced in small circles, savouring each minute of the song as it went on.
"Babe."
"Yeah?"
"You sure you've never taken ballroom dancing classes? Because you sure know how to dance."
He laughed lightly, and drew me closer. "What are you talking about? I don't need classes. I invented ballroom dancing."
"Right." I threw my head back in a small giggle and he kissed my neck gently. "I get my moves, when I'm dancing with the most beautiful girl in the world." I leaned my head on his chest, breathing in the faint scent of his cologne before closing my eyes. He rested his lips on my forehead, and we continued to dance in each other's arms across the room.
"At last
My lonely days are overMy love has come along
And life is like a song"
"I hate to break this to you now, babe, but I don't have anymore songs to dance to." He apologised, almost looking like he was ready to punch himself in the face any second." I kissed his cheek and looked into the dark, brown eyes that carried the gentle emotion I memorised by heart. "It's alright, we could replay it." He walked over to the bedside table and fiddled with his phone before returning to take my hand in his. And we danced again, in the same small circles we did before. I knew, there and then that I'd trade anything to do this everyday, every evening. It didn't matter that "At Last" would be the only song we'd dance to, or that we'd dance in the same small circles for the rest of our time together. In that brief moment of calm and joy in a small, sweltering hot room on that Wednesday evening, I decided that this memory of the both of us was one I'd treasure forever. We didn't need fancy lights or lush, green grass to dance the dance of our lives. We just needed each other. And that alone, was perfect enough.

Kaleidoscope of Craziness
I write to change, to express, to share. All pictures are mine, unless stated. Enjoy roaming around ;) Some people are destined to sing. To act. To host a talk show. To become a songwriter for recording artistes. To take phenomenal pictures from around the world. To teach. To heal and to nurse. To be in an orchestra or to play an instrument by the streets to entertain the weary passerbys. Everyone is destined to be an individual who'll change the lives of others someday in their own unique way to touch hearts and heal broken ones. Everyone has a destiny, a road to walk and a path to remember when you're old and sitting by the fireplace, reminiscing the old times. I believe mine, is to write. FOLLOW INSTAGRAM TWITTER Tweets
